Mini seat subframes
Hi folks, I need some help, Im sure Im not the first to do this. Ive got some Metro Turbo seats that Im gonna fit in my mini. Thing is, I need some way of mounting them in the car. They already have a slider as metro seats do, but I need some way to make the slider work with the mini seat mounts which are really odd. Is there something I can buy, or is it modding time? :)

Will my new seats fit my subframes?
Before I begin Im sure this has to be answered somewhere in here, but I cant find it. Im looking at getting a pair of the lowback corbeau classic seats since my seats are on their way out and wanted to know if they would fit my seat subframes. I would assume I have the original seats for a 1988 mini, but many people have had their hands in this car. They are the kind with the head rest and recline a small bit. The upholstry on them match the rear so Im pretty sure theyre stock.

Seat subframes
I am trying to fit some Corbeau seats to my pickup but find the subframes are either to high at the front or low at the back.
Am I missing something obvious??
Please help

The people I brought cobra seats and frames from have returned my call and what they do is cut the first two holes away at the front mountings so you are only left with the one hole on each front mount. Have tried this and it seems to work. You also need to have the orginal mountings that bolt into the box section and the bar that is bolted into rear floor pan.

Bucket seats/Subframes
Hi there,
I have a 96 Sprite and would just like to know if the standard mini subframes are compatible with Cobra bucket seats, or do I have to purchase new ones instead?
Thanks guys,
Bren.

New Seats for the beast!
does anyone know if the subframes that come with the cobra clubmans front seat package from mini sport (http://www.minisport.com/classic-mini-shop/products/seats-seatbelts-harnesses/cobra-seats-packages/cobra-classic-clubman-seats-and-product.html) will tilt forward?? I've emailed them but still have'n got an answer. Tilting subframes from minisport are something like £40 each, so since the front seat package is quite cheap I was worried that they only came with sliding subframes.

Front Seats
i think cobra used to make special subframes for them no longer made tho, if your seats currently have a latch to stop them tipping your new seats will need the same or be fixed solid, any mount to car needs to be 4mm thick i seem to rember. hopefully somone will of made or modifyied there own subframe

Seats
The seats you have sound like the factory fitted seats. take the seat off by undoing the 7/16 bolts under the front of the seat. chances are that youll have to buy new subframes aswell as the seat. (most places do deals for subframes and seats). the seats should just bolt onto the new subframes then using the same bolts, bolt them onto the mounts coming from the car on the crossmember. can be a bit of a pain sometimes but well worth it, lowback seats certainly complete the retro mini look. bmw seats
Don't know, but I do know that MG Metro seats used to fit with a special subframe and so did Recaros too.

Depends on which seats you get. Youve probably noticed (or not) that seats are available with base or side mount points. Generally, the more expencive and sporty they are, the more likely they are to have side mounts. Base mount - The easiest option because the tailored subframes bolt on to the standard brackets and even use the anti-tip brackets like the standard seats. Side mount - Bit tricker because the brackets for these are the long alloy ones that bolt onto the floor. Normally, these would be mounted behind the cross member the standard seats fix to, but this puts the seat too far back for normal road use (reaching the gear stick in the standard position is almost impossible) So, get ones with base mounts and get the tailored subframes for a mini and youll need nothing more than some spanners and a big screw driver (for the seat to subframe bolts) Also watch out for the shoulder width on some seats as it gets very close to the post the seatbelt mounts to.

seats
hi david, as far as i know it is possible to use the existing subframe on the seats and just bolt them straight down to the floor, so long as you use strong enough bolts, it should be fine. let me know how you get on. alex

Being a rally mini you would have the brake lines running inside the car along the exhaust tunnel so you could fit the valve there some where. I have seen them under the rear seat base but both my mini`s have them mounted on the bracket above the front subframe tower bolts on the drivers side.
